NOMINATIONS NEEDED FOR THE FOLLOWING OFFICES: Vice President-Organizational Resources; Vice President-Christian Life/Human Care; Secretary, and Nominating Committee. Here are the Job Descriptions for each office:
The Vice President of Christian Life/Human Care (VPCLHC) may perform the duties of the office of President in the absence of, or at the request of, the LWML District President, and shall be Chairman of the Christian Life/Human Care Committee, and shall:
a. contact LCMS for new English District churches;
b. consult with LWML English District President regarding potential new groups;
c. publish a monthly letter electronically; and
d. attend Zoom meetings of the EDLWML Executive Committee, which are called as needed, attend one in-person meeting in the fall prior to the convention which will be held at the convention site, and attend the convention and the EC meeting held the day prior to convention (expenses for in-person meetings are paid by the District).
As Chair of the Christian Life/Human Care Committee, the VPCLHC will lead them in:
a. encouraging participation in Christian Life programs and offering advice for conducting such programs on the zone and unit level;
b. keeping a record of missionaries of the English District, encouraging units to befriend them, offering suggestions on how to befriend them, and keeping a record of who is being befriended and by what unit;
c. sending the EDLWML District publication to the missionaries of the district;
d. following suggestions of the LWML Christian Life and Mission Servants Committees, when applicable, and advising units of human care projects in which they may engage; and
e. reporting to each regular meeting of the EDLWML Executive Committee and to the biennial EDLWML convention.
The Vice President of Organizational Resources (VPOR) may perform the duties of the office of President in the absence of or at the request of the LWML District President and shall:
a. become LWML District President in case of a vacancy in the office of President;
b. coordinate the public relations for the LWML District;
c. be chairman of the Bylaws and Leader/Member Development Committees;
d. serve as liaison to Webmaster; and
e. attend Zoom meetings of the EDLWML Executive Committee, which are called as needed, attend one in-person meeting in the fall prior to the convention which will be held at the convention site, and attend the convention and the EC meeting held the day prior to the convention (expenses for in-person meetings are paid by the District).
As Chair of the Bylaws and Leader/Member Development Committees, the VPOR will lead them in:
a. studying the District bylaws and submitting to the EDLWML Executive Committee for consideration such amendments as it deems advisable;
b. submitting to the LWML Structure Committee Chairman for approval, the required number of copies of all proposed amendments to the EDLWML Bylaws prior to presentation at the EDLWML District convention for adoption;
c. submitting to the LWML Structure Committee Chairman the required number of copies of the approved bylaws within sixty (60) days of the close of the LWML District convention;
d. receiving and examining all bylaws and amendments thereto of all zones and nonzone units as to their essential requirements, and approving those not in conflict with the principles and object of the LWML District;
e. being responsible for keeping current the LWML District supplements to the LWML Handbook;
f. providing materials and training to help increase the leadership skills of members, including planning and conducting workshops for zones as requested by the EDLWML Executive Committee;
g. channeling leadership training from LWML to district and zones and furnishing resources in member development, upon request to zones and societies;
h. encouraging societies to increase their membership; and
i. reporting to each regular meeting of the EDLWML Executive Committee and to the biennial LWML District convention.
The Secretary shall:
a. record the LWML District convention proceedings and meetings of the LWML District Board of Directors and LWML District Executive Committee;
b. send copies of the minutes of the LWML District Executive Committee meetings to each member of the LWML District Executive Committee within thirty (30) days;
c. send copies of the minutes of the LWML District Board of Directors’ meetings and of the convention to each member of the LWML District Board of Directors within sixty (60) days;
d. be in charge of correspondence for the LWML District as well as that requested by the LWML District President;
e. maintain a record of zone officers, groups, and nonzone units, including their authorized LWML representatives;
f. distribute LWML literature and Mite Boxes to zones and nonzone units upon request;
g. send membership charters to new groups upon approval of the LWML District Executive Committee;
h. request statistics and reports from zones, standing committees, and the LWML District Executive Committee, and compile them for publication in the convention manual;
i. supply memorial cards upon request; and
j. attend Zoom meetings of the EDLWML Executive Committee, which are called as needed, attend one in-person meeting in the fall prior to the convention which will be held at the convention site, and attend the EC meeting held the day prior to the convention (expenses for in-person meetings are paid by the District).
The Nominating Committee shall:
a. solicit from members names of nominees for positions to be filled;
b. receive from nominees consent to serve if elected;
c. prepare printed ballots with the names of candidates printed in alphabetical order by last name for each office to be filled; and
d. attend Zoom meetings, when requested, to plan and carry out the duties of the committee.
